OCC Watercolor: Intermediate - Pre-Class Exercise

I'm excited to take the OCC Watercolor: Intermediate Technicque Class over at OCC.  One of the pre-class exercises is to create paint swatches.  Here is mine for my KOI Watercolors (sorry that it's side-ways):

Happy that they did this as I didn't think that having a reference sheet would help.  But also, the info on the transparancy or opaquesness helped too.

Off to finish more of the pre-class.  Looking forward to the rest of class.

Watercolor-Black & White Remake

So, I decided to retry making a pre-class watercolor. I am much happier with the result.

The two changes I made were using black embossing powder and Koi Watercolor Pocket Field Sketch Box.

Here's the result, followed by the before picture.

Pre-Class Watercolor

Just posting some pre-class watercolor pictures. Very happy I'm taking the Watercolor for Card Makers-Exploring Mediums class. You'll see what I mean after seeing the before and afters!

Here, I made the mistake of using memento black for stamping the flowers. This is a watercolor soluble ink that bleed giving a purplish color. I was looking for black and white.

Altenew Wild Hibiscus Stamp
Memento Black Ink

Simon Says it's a Guy Thing #2

First time doing a SSS challenge and it's to use Tim Holtz.  I only have his distress inks.  So when I saw this card on Pinterest - I knew exactly what I wanted to do.  I made two cards using that card as my inspiration.  On one background, I used TH Spiced Marmalade and Mustard Seed Distress Inks, the other one is TH Spice Marmalade and Picked Raspberry.

The flowers are Altenew Painted Flowers (love this set) using PTI Fresh Snow, PTI Orange Zest and then Memento Black.

MIM #195 - A la carte

I decided to use the MIM from Betsy with the Artsy Watercolor Background for this challenge.  I used the Rosie Posie Stamp Set and then used a waterbrush to pull the color out. Here's what I ended up with:
